Movie Review - Man of Steel

Man of Steel

Well this has been a very busy couple of weeks at the movies for me. Usually I can go a month or so between movies and in the last two weeks I've seen Monster's University, This is the End, World War Z and now Man of Steel.

So I don't know what I was expecting, I have been hearing rumours that it was horrible, that it was okay and that it was amazing. So truthfully I was sure about it. I contemplated waiting for video or at least a good copy to watch online but the bestie called for a movie date and I decided on going. To start off I thought the first reboot of Superman was okay, it wasn't a gem but watchable. I'm not a huge fan of Kate Bosworth and same with Brandon Routh so this is why I was apprehensive. I was iffy about Amy Adams as the Lois Lane character and she wasn't bad, not fabulous, I am actually partial to the Lois Lane character from Smallville, played by Canadian Erica Durance. Plus I also liked Tom Welling as Clark Kent but seeing Henry Cavill I went 'Hello'

As Superman I thought wow but seeing him as a scruffier, almost dirtier Clark Kent hiding out in secret I had to say Yum, Yum. See pictures below

My oh my, this makes me want to watch The Immortals again.

Okay so onto the plot. Well I will admit that I am not a Superman follower, I don't know much about the comics. I'm a Marvel girl. Sorry. So I didn't know who the bad guy was but they did explain everything in the first bit of the movie. I was kind of surprised about how violent it was, maybe violent isn't the right word but more intense than the first reboot of Superman or even parts of the old ones from the eighties with Christopher Reeve so I was kind of taken aback. I grew up with the Smallville and Lois and Clark and neither of those where as Sci-Fi and action packed as this was. I'm not saying I disliked it because truthfully because of the action and big explosions and intense moments kept me glued to the screen, well that and Henry Cavill. I thought the chemistry between Henry and Amy worked and even though for some reason I couldn't completely believe her as Lois Lane she did okay.

So the movie starts with the planet Krypton dying and Kal-El's parents sending him to earth to protect him. The bad guy General Zod kills Kal-El's dad and gets punished by their governing body and sent to a cryogenic type prison. Well the planet dies Zod and his followers get released and they make their way to Earth for Kal-El who is now known as Clark Kent. Clark, who is hiding off the radar, trying to be as normal as he can because of his alien abilities but when he finds a ship from his home land Lois Lane gets entwined with his world. Lois, using her reporter instincts finds Clark and wants him to tell her the truth. Zod finally comes to Earth and over the TV he tells the humans to hand over the alien, aka Superman. Superman surrenders and Zod decides on attacking earth. Superman does his best with lots of fighting and action that truthfully went on too long, way too long. I even started yawning, not only due to sleepiness but because it was just way too long. Not just the action scene but the whole movie. And I don't want to give away anything but at the end of the huge fight scene it took all the strength that I had not to yell out 'Seriously, all that and just boom it's done'. If you watch this you might understand.

Okay so to sum it up, if you like comic book movies you will like this, even if it's a little long. And this is how the first reboot should have been but that is why it's called a reboot. So overall the second reboot of the Superman franchise will probably be more of a success than the first. So I will give it my 'V' stamp of approval, even if it is too long.

Movie Review - World War Z

World War Z

Movie poster #1

Movie Poster #2

Okay so today I headed to a matinee and watched World War Z. None of my friends were interested so the only person that I knew that wanted to watch it was my Mom so off we went. I enjoyed it. It had a 28 days later, 28 weeks later vibe and I enjoyed those movies in the past and I still do. I do enjoy myself a good zombie movie and I will clasiffy this as one. Brad Pitt was fine, not a Oscar worthy performance but who was expecting one with a zombie movie.
In the past zombie movies have had this just undead being wanted to eat alive humans and that is all. Now with these new zombie movies it's always a virus, rabies something like that, like with these movies Resident Evil, 28 days later, 28 weeks later, Quarantine. And I do love both types of Zombie movies.

The chaotic scenes when the Zombies or Zeke's they call them in the movie start attacking everybody in the open in Philly is crazy to watch because the zombie's in this movies aren't your slow moving zombie's you see on The Walking Dead or anything like that they are like super crazed and move very quickly killing and turning thousands in mere minutes and hours.

This picture shows you how crazy they were. Just a little bit of sound they start climbing each other trying to get over the wall and in another part they take down a helicopter.

I don't want to give anything away so I won't get into how they learn to deal with them but overall the movie was great. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I went. My mom on the other hand found it to be too long and she said it was okay, which means she really didn't like it.

So the only opinion I am posting on here is my opinion and World War Z gets my 'V' Stamp of approval. Check this one out :)

Movie Review - Star Trek - Into Darkness

Star Trek - Into Darkness

I am really late putting this review in and probably most people who wanted to see it have already seen it but I will still put my personal review in.

I thought it was good. Star Trek Into Darkness is a great, action packed, awesome special effects movie. I enjoyed it but it wasn't good enough to go watch again, but I will own it.

Chris Pine again does an awesome Captain Kirk. I love how he is just Kirk, I don't know how to explain it and I honestly don't know another actor who could pull it off as well as Chris does. And Simon Pegg as Scotty, well I just love Simon Pegg so he can do no wrong, ever (I am waiting patiently for To the Worlds End)

Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho

Now can someone explain to me the part that Alice Eve's character was supposed to be other than being a so called pretty face. I found her character to be annoying and just a odd filler character.

Now to go to an amazing character. Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan was phenomenal, he was amazing. I started watching Sherlock because of his performance in this movie. I was captivated by him and couldn't take my eyes off of him. Kudos Benedict for an amazing performance.

One other thing I want to mention is did anybody feel their chest tighten, or feel a little tear start to form in their eye as you watched the Enterprise falling to Earth? I will admit I did.

Overall great movie, not the best I have ever seen but a great one. Star Trek Into Darkness gets my 'V' stamp of approval.

Movie Review - Monsters University

Monsters University

Now I want to start off and say that I'm a huge fan of Monster's Inc, it is my favourite Pixar movie.

I don't know if my expectations were too high because I came away from that movie with a 'Meh' attitude. Yeah there were a couple funny moments and a couple sentinmental moments but over all it was okay. But I do have a couple favourite parts.

#1 Mike Wazowski as a little kid, so cute:

#2 Art, this guy is funny:

#3 The girls from PNK

#4 Mike and Sully's fraternity brothers:

So overall the movie was okay, not fabulous but okay. I think my niece and nephew enjoyed it and really that's all that matters.

Unfortunately it didn't blow me away so it's not getting my 'V' stamp of approval. :(

True Blood Season 6 Episode 1

True Blood Season 6 Episode 1 - Who are you, really?

Okay well it's back Trubies, another season of True Blood. Now as a lover of the books I was hoping that this season would bring Quinn, Sookie's Tiger shifter lover from the books but again I am disappointed. I know it's only the first episode but I have been reading some of the chatter on the net and nobody is mentioning Quinn, so I just want to get out my disappointment of how far they have gone off from the books.

Okay so now that is out of my system let's talk about the episode. Meh. I don't know what I was expecting but I wasn't blown away. I don't like this whole Bill being Lilith thing, I don't like that Eric seems like a wimp now, I want my strong, ruthless Eric back. I don't like his sister Nora, she's annoying and so is Tara, again. I thought it was funny when Andy's fairy babies went from being little babies to toddlers overnight, that was funny. I also don't like how angry and mouthy Jason is. Overall it was okay but I was expecting more, maybe, it could be because we've been waiting so long for it to come back and when you wait so long and the episode is meh it's upsetting  The nice thing is we can finally put a face to Warlow, and I love that it's Rutgar Hauer (aka Lothos) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. One of my fav's.

Everybody makes it out of The Authority's headquarters, battered but alive, well sort of.

The building explodes with Bill inside but now since he's I don't know what he is able to walk away from it.

Bill calls Jessica back to their house and she, since he's her Maker, has to go because she can't disobey him Sookie joins her and they find Bill sitting there. Eric shows up with Nora and now Bill is faster and goes to stake Eric but Sookie protects Eric and stakes Bill in the back. We then find out that Bill can't be killed, as he pulls the stake through his body out his chest and heals. Jessica freak and they leave with Eric walking Sookie home then he gives her back her house, and to repay him she takes back her invitation into her house.

Jason, who walked away from The Authority's headquarters angrier than before and gets a ride from a nice man. He finds out that this gentleman is Warlow who is going to Bon Temps for Sookie.

Now I'm not 100% sure who this guy is and what his purpose is but I don't like it. At all!

Well until next week Trubies, it's been great.

Movie Review - This is the End!!!

This is the End.

I know a raunchy comedy like this wouldn't usually end up on a blog that talks about supernatural stuff but the lovely twist that this movie has with the demons and stuff makes it completely a Living Dead Girl movie.

Okay truthfully I didn't go into this movie with high expectations. I mean I will say I liked Super Bad, and Knocked Up, and Pineapple Express but I was expecting the exact same potty humour. Well I was right, there was a lot, I mean a lot of potty humour but there were a lot more funnier parts too. At first I thought they were going in the whole alien invasion with everybody being beamed up by the blue light but I wasn't shocked with the whole rapture theme. All the main character, Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Jay Barachel, and James Franco were good, and I did find Michael Cera's small part even funnier.

I don't want to give to many details away because if you like funny movies this is the movie you should see but here are a couple pics to tide you over until you can get to movies

The guys dancing it up after taking all the drugs that they have LOL

Jonah Hill during his exorcism, yup I said exorcism.

Well this movie gets the "V" stamp of approval. Don't miss it

PS Make sure you don't leave early, the end is the best :)

Waiting Sucks - It sure does

Waiting Sucks - It sure does

Okay Trubies, it's that time of year again when our favourite Bon Temps vampires, fairies, werewolves and mere humans are back, this time it's Season 6.
Wow I can't believe it's already Season 6, were has the time gone?

My hopes for this season:
More Eric scenes
More Naked Eric scenes
Lots of Alcide scenes
More of Eric and Sookie together (except I heard a rumor there's a new love interest, boo)
Now speaking of that new love interest, I hope it's Quinn. For those who read the books Quinn is Sookie's hot Were tiger that she hooks up with for a little bit but because of how far they have gone off away from the books I just don't know what to expect from this season.

Yum!!!

Can't Wait
