My Love for Tim Burton

Tim Burton how I love thee, let me count the ways. One day I would love to crawl into his mind and see what goes on in there. The way he makes his worlds so dark and eerie but he adds in sharp beautiful colours that contrast against the grey's and blacks is beautiful.

I'm going to list some of my favourite Tim Burton Movies

The Nightmare Before Christmas

I don't know any other way to say this is the best cartoon, best movie, best everything ever. I love this movie so much. I can watch it over and over again but I have to watch it alone because my friends and family get irritated to me narriating the dialogue and songs. My 5 year old niece and 2 1/2 year old nephew absolutly love this movie plus my brother has Jack Skellington tattoo on his forearm with the rest of the cast planned as a sleeve (once it's done I will provide pictures)
I know Tim Burton did not direct this movie but it is written by him and the characters were of his design so I still classify it a Tim Burton film
Synopsis(For anybody who doesn't know what this movie is about) Jack Skellington, king of Halloweentown, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn't quite understand the concept. (IMDB)

Beetlejuice

Oh Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetle... Oh I almost said it. Oh hell Beetlejuice. Damn it, he didn't show up :(
Michael Keaton made this movie. I never knew he had a comedian streak in him but damn he's funny. Plus Alec Baldwin pre 30 rock and Geena Davis plus Winona Ryder and Catharine OHara, hell this movie has to be good right? Well yes it is, it's not only good but faboulous. It's amazing from Beetlejuice and all his jokes, Lydia and her depressed gothic feel and the dinner party dance to Day-O, see below.
If there is anybody out there that has never seen this movie they need to do it now!, I mean now!!!!
Synopsis: A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a "bio-exorcist" in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house. (IMDB)

Mars Attacks
Okay so I bet now everybody is thinking Nightmare before christmas, okay, Beetlejuice, okay, but Mars Attacks?????????
Seriously you should give this movie a chance if you haven't seen it. It's hilarious with a great cast. You have Jack Nicholson playing two character, Martin Short playing an idiot who gets his finger bitten off, Annette Bening as an airhead hippy. To round out the cast Glenn Close, Pierce Bronson, Danny Devito, Michael J Fox, Natalie Portman, Lukas Haas, Pam Grier, Tom Jones. Overall a hilarious movie with aliens that sound like ducks when they talk LOL
Synopsis: The Earth is invaded by Martians with irresistible weapons and a cruel sense of humor. (IMDB)

Sweeney Todd
The Demon Barbar of Fleet Street

So at first I thought Johnny Depp in a musical, um okay. Then I watched this movie and fell in love with it. Again Tim Burton plays with dark colours with reds and other brighter colours contrasting against it showing a beautiful and eerie back drop for his musical. To top it off Helena Bonham Carter is amazing in this film. I really enjoy her as a actress and I know that her and Tim are in a relationship and that's maybe why she's in a lot of his movies but at the same time with her gothic feel she's perfect for his movies.
Synopsis: The infamous story of Benjamin Barker, a.k.a Sweeney Todd, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett. Based on the hit Broadway musical. (IMDB)

Sleepy Hollow

Okay again we have another Johnny Depp Tim Burton movie. And like I said earlier that Helena Bonham Carter fits so well in Tim's movies well it's the same for Johnny. Johnny has that je ne sais quoi for these movies. This movie again uses the colours working against each other creating beautiful magic plus Christina Ricci just makes it so much better. Oh and I can't forget Christopher Walken as the bad guy, can it get any better???
Synposis: Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman.(IMDB)

I know there are a lot more movies to add to this list and maybe I will but these are my favourite because of different reasons. I hope if you haven't checked these movies out by this fabulous director/writer you should and open your eyes to Tim Burton's magical worlds.
