My day at Fan Expo 2012 in Toronto at the Metro Convention Centre
First I want to say it was awesome. I had a lot of fun except for a couple irritations but other than that it was fantastic and I can't wait until next year, or Comic Con in March in Toronto
The highlight for me was the autographs I got: I got to meet Chris Sarandon who was in The Nightmare Before Chrsitmas as Jack Skellington and Fright Night. He was super nice. Next was Nelsan Ellis from True Blood, he plays Lafayette and he was great. He was cool. Next I got a picture from acclaimed artist Tony Moore whose work has been seen in The Walking Dead comics. Here's some pics:
Pretty Cool Eh!!!!!
Here is some of the cool pics of the celebrities I saw:
Alan Tudyk - Serenity
Chris Sarandon signing my autograph
Christopher Lloyd - Back to the Future & Addams Family
James Marsters - Buffy the Vampire Slayer & House on Haunted Hill
John Carpenter - Halloween plus many more
Lou Ferrigno - The Original Hulk
Nelsan Ellis - True Blood
Norman Reedus - The Walking Dead & Boondock Saints
Rose McGowan - Jawbreaker & Grindhouse
Stan Lee
Tony Todd - Candyman
So overall I had a great time and saw some great people.
My next post will be pictures from the Frankenweenie exhibit
The following pictures are from the first couple of days of Fan Expo. I wasn't there myself but these are some photos that were put on the Fan Expo page on Fan Expo Facebook Page
Seeing this picture showing all the vendors I think I'm going to have to limit myself on what I can buy, I think I could get into a little trouble.
Stan Lee (creator of Marvel comics like Spiderman, X-Men, Ironman do I need to continue) blowing out the candles on the 50th Anniversary of Spiderman cake. I wish I would have been there. I think next year I'm going to get tickets to all the days so I don't miss anything.
Just had to add this pic saying what we all say when we talk about Stan Lee, coolest man ever!!!!
Picture of a little Thor getting their comic signed by a legend, I love Stan's smile in this pic. It's like he's genuinelyhappy to be there and I think that makes him an amazing man.
And this is the pic of the Frankenweenie exhibit at Fan Expo and I can't wait. Anything Tim Burton makes me happy :)
Well I hope you enjoyed the little taste of Fan Expo because with these pictures it will help me get through until Sunday
The Countdown begins 4 more sleeps until Fan Expo!!!!!
I'm so excited!!!
I wasn't sure if I should dress up, or even how people or fans dress up at these things because I am a Fan Expo/ Comicon Virgin LOL
So instead of dressing up I thought I will show my geek pride by doing my nails. At first I thought True Blood nails then I thought no way, I'm going to show my pride for the thing that I would geek out the most over and Ladies and Gentlemen that would be Nightmare Before Christmas. I remember seeing this movie when I was 12 years old and thought this is the coolest thing ever and ever since then I've been completely addicted. Nobody will watch the movie with me because I can recite it word for word. But to show my pride this is my attempt at Nightmare Before Christmas Nails. Not bad for someone with no drawing abilities, eh!!!
Well I hope you enjoy this movie as much as I do and one day you will attempt your own version of these nails.
Have a good night and remember only one more sleep until the Expo starts and four until I get there. To all the Comic, SciFi, Horror and Anime Fans, Living Dead Girl will see you there :)
Tim Burton how I love thee, let me count the ways. One day I would love to crawl into his mind and see what goes on in there. The way he makes his worlds so dark and eerie but he adds in sharp beautiful colours that contrast against the grey's and blacks is beautiful.
I'm going to list some of my favourite Tim Burton Movies
The Nightmare Before Christmas
I don't know any other way to say this is the best cartoon, best movie, best everything ever. I love this movie so much. I can watch it over and over again but I have to watch it alone because my friends and family get irritated to me narriating the dialogue and songs. My 5 year old niece and 2 1/2 year old nephew absolutly love this movie plus my brother has Jack Skellington tattoo on his forearm with the rest of the cast planned as a sleeve (once it's done I will provide pictures)
I know Tim Burton did not direct this movie but it is written by him and the characters were of his design so I still classify it a Tim Burton film
Synopsis(For anybody who doesn't know what this movie is about) Jack Skellington, king of Halloweentown, discovers Christmas Town, but doesn't quite understand the concept. (IMDB)
Beetlejuice
Oh Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetle... Oh I almost said it. Oh hell Beetlejuice. Damn it, he didn't show up :(
Michael Keaton made this movie. I never knew he had a comedian streak in him but damn he's funny. Plus Alec Baldwin pre 30 rock and Geena Davis plus Winona Ryder and Catharine OHara, hell this movie has to be good right? Well yes it is, it's not only good but faboulous. It's amazing from Beetlejuice and all his jokes, Lydia and her depressed gothic feel and the dinner party dance to Day-O, see below.
If there is anybody out there that has never seen this movie they need to do it now!, I mean now!!!!
Synopsis: A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a "bio-exorcist" in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house. (IMDB)
Mars Attacks
Okay so I bet now everybody is thinking Nightmare before christmas, okay, Beetlejuice, okay, but Mars Attacks?????????
Seriously you should give this movie a chance if you haven't seen it. It's hilarious with a great cast. You have Jack Nicholson playing two character, Martin Short playing an idiot who gets his finger bitten off, Annette Bening as an airhead hippy. To round out the cast Glenn Close, Pierce Bronson, Danny Devito, Michael J Fox, Natalie Portman, Lukas Haas, Pam Grier, Tom Jones. Overall a hilarious movie with aliens that sound like ducks when they talk LOL
Synopsis: The Earth is invaded by Martians with irresistible weapons and a cruel sense of humor. (IMDB)
Sweeney Todd
The Demon Barbar of Fleet Street
So at first I thought Johnny Depp in a musical, um okay. Then I watched this movie and fell in love with it. Again Tim Burton plays with dark colours with reds and other brighter colours contrasting against it showing a beautiful and eerie back drop for his musical. To top it off Helena Bonham Carter is amazing in this film. I really enjoy her as a actress and I know that her and Tim are in a relationship and that's maybe why she's in a lot of his movies but at the same time with her gothic feel she's perfect for his movies.
Synopsis: The infamous story of Benjamin Barker, a.k.a Sweeney Todd, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett. Based on the hit Broadway musical. (IMDB)
Sleepy Hollow
Okay again we have another Johnny Depp Tim Burton movie. And like I said earlier that Helena Bonham Carter fits so well in Tim's movies well it's the same for Johnny. Johnny has that je ne sais quoi for these movies. This movie again uses the colours working against each other creating beautiful magic plus Christina Ricci just makes it so much better. Oh and I can't forget Christopher Walken as the bad guy, can it get any better???
Synposis: Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman.(IMDB)
I know there are a lot more movies to add to this list and maybe I will but these are my favourite because of different reasons. I hope if you haven't checked these movies out by this fabulous director/writer you should and open your eyes to Tim Burton's magical worlds.
I started making this list and at first I was just going to put my top vampire movies but I decided on vampire movies that I could watch over and over again. So the list should be called my favorite vampire movies.
1. From Dusk Till Dawn - This movie is awesome, I can watch it over and over again, and I actually do. I've already worn out on DVD (oops)
Two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in an establishment populated by vampires, with chaotic results. (IMDB)
2. The Lost Boys - Again, awesome movie. Yes I know it's got stereotypical 80's fashion and it can be a little cheesy but I love it.
After moving to a new town, two brothers are convinced that the area is frequented by vampires. (IMDB)
3. Blade- Oh Blade how I love your movies. I enjoy all three but I decided on the first one being my all time favourite because of one thing - Deacon Frost.
A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires. (IMDB)
4. Fright Night - Again awesome movie after look past the little chessyness (if that's a word, lol). Plus it has to be the 1985 version not that stupid remake.
When a teenager learns that his next door neighbour is a vampire, no one will believe him. (IMDB)
5. Underworld - I do enjoy the other movies in this franchise but the first one is still and will always be my favourite.
Selene, a beautiful vampire warrior, is entrenched in a war between the vampire and werewolf races. Although she is aligned with the vampires, she falls in love with Michael, a werewolf who longs for the war to end. (IMDB)
So overall I don't know if you agree with my choices or if you think I missed some, which I probably did.

So I hope everybody is all excited for the upcoming TV Season because I am, I will have lots to discuss with you so happy viewing :)
After a so-so episode last week True Blood comes back with a excellent episode.
With Eric knowing that he has to get out of The Authority's headquarters he enlists the help of the tech savvy Molly to escape. They drug Nora and plan to use her blood to escape but Bill turns them in. I don't get with the whole Bill thing, maybe he's just playing but I don't think so, I think he wants to live like an Sanguinista.
After caputring Eric and Molly, Nora and Bill force feed Eric Lilith's blood making Eric hallucinate again. This time Eric and Nora (who also took some of Lilith's blood) hallucinate Godric then Lilith shows up ripping Godric's throat out. I don't really know why Godric was there anyway except for trying to lead Eric in the right way but whatever, I was happy to see Godric again. Then sadly they got Molly with the iStake :(
I don't know about anybody else but when I see Eric looking like this I just want to hold him.
Then the new Sheriff of Area 5 made a demand stating that all the vampires start making more vampires to boost up their numbers. Tara doesn't agree with that so with the help of Ginger (who I love) Tara chops the new Sheriff's head off. Thank goodness, I was getting tired of looking at the Goth wanna be reject.
Next did anybody else tear up with the whole Hoyt, Jason and Jessica goodbye. I wasn't shocked that Hoyt decided to move on with everything that happened to him but it was sad when he asked Jessica to glamour him to erase the memory of her to break our hearts more he wanted Jason erased from his memory too.
Oh one more thing Mike Spencer a vampire????
I was not expecting that one at all.
Until next time Trubies, only two more episodes left :(
True Blood's new It couple, lol. I love Russell Edgington and I love Rev. Steve Newlin so them as a couple kind of makes sense, they are both psycho's.
In this boring and overall not a very good episode really didn't provide us any thoughts of what is going to happen with The Authority or lead us closer to Who is the vampire that killed Sookie's parents and anything else but it leads us to WTF moments.
The first being, why is Emma a wolf cub all the time? It doesn't really make sense to me and yes I know Russell kind of leads the werewolves but I still just don't get it, it really doesn't click with me.
Next I'm very happy that the writers have finally ended the whole smoke monster stupid story line with Terry shooting his old army boss in the head saving Arlene. I love Terry and I love Arlene, they are so cute together.
I love seeing Lafayette back to his Season 1 and 2 quirps and comments like this episode's"Dead folk, why y'all got to be so cryptic?" while he is listening to Sookie's Gran telling Sookie to look under the bed for clues about who Warlow is but all she finds is a box with things like Jason's report card and other little trinkets.
Now the WTF moment:
All the people with the Obama masks that were going around shooting shapeshifters were part of this bigger picture. And the weird thing is Ex-Sheriff Bud Dearborn was part of it. When Sookie went over asking him questions about her parents death Bud's stupid girlfriend of the moment smacks her over the head with a frying pan. Sookie wakes up in a barn tied up with Hoyt who is all drugged up because he let Jessica go. Bud and The Dragon (the leader of their clan, his stupid girlfriend) tells Sookie that they are cleansing the world getting rid of shifters, everything that isn't normal. Sheriff Andy and Jason come to rescue and they end up shooting and killing Bud which was sad but at the same time I said WTF.
Next we find out that because of everything that is going on with The Authority that they have now made this weird looking guy the new Sheriff of Area 5. Boo!!!!! Anybody else think he looks like a vampire want a be, not an actual vampire. I don't like him!!!
Overall not the greatest episode but what can I say?
