The Zombies Are Coming!!!

I will admit I have a love for Zombies. There are Zombie Books, Zombie Movies and that Zombie TV show that everybody loves. So for this post we are going to talk Zombies.

Zombie Movies I love:
Dawn of the Dead (2004) - I don't really have a good reason why I love this movie, it's a bunch of 'B' list actors or even worse, not going to mention names but it's a good zombie movie.

The Resident Evil movies - I fell in love with the first one and I have even played the game, many, many moons ago but overall I think the movies are pretty good. Especially at the beginning of the series. Yes they have made some errors in the later movies, especially making them 3D but overall I enjoy the series and I'm looking forward to the next one Resident Evil 6.

Zombieland - Okay so the premise is hilarious and Jesse Eisenburg and Woody Harrelson work so well together plus Emma Stone make it a pretty funny Zombie movie but also adding Bill Murray playing himself just makes me happy.

Also the fact that they are making a sequel is awesome except sometimes the sequels suck!!!

Shaun of the Dead - Fantastic movie and completely hilarious.

28 days later and 28 weeks later - Great take on the zombie genre

World War Z - I heard from a lot of people that they did not like this movie, that it wasn't believable but come on it's a zombie movie. The only part that I thought was strange was the part where Brad Pitt's character infected himself with a virus so he wouldn't be detected, I thought it was a little weird. But overall a good movie.

Now here are two Zombie movies which are far from the norm. First is Fido, where Zombie are kept as pets, and society lives with the knowledge of zombies and even prepares themselves for death by being decapitated after death and burying the head separately. Second is Warm Bodies, it's a feel good romantic comedy about a Zombie who falls in love with a human and because of his love for her he slowly becomes human again.

So those are the favourites for me.

Let's move onto that TV show that we all love so much:

The Walking Dead - I found the first season to be slow but damn it gets good, really good. And tonight is the finale for the 4th season and I can't wait, except I don't get AMC, damn cable companies, lol.

And apparently the CW network is supposed to be starting their own zombie show. I guess it's been in concept stage for a little bit but here's to hoping. I wouldn't mind another Zombie show.

And now for books:

There are not a lot of Zombie books out there but in my book collection I have two and they both were fantastic.

Breathers: A Zombie's Lament - This book is about Andy who dies in a car accident and comes back as a zombie and this is a normal thing in their society. He ends up going to meetings for zombies on how to live, well so call live, in their society and he meets Rita and develops feelings for her. Here is the plot summary from Wikipedia: Andy Warner is a zombie, having reanimated after a fatal car wreck that killed his wife, orphaned his daughter, and left Andy disfigured and unintelligible. Reviled and discriminated against by a society that no longer considers him human, Andy is an outcast. He spends his new existence watching cable television in his parents’ wine cellar and attending Undead Anonymous meetings with other zombies, where he finds kindred souls in Rita and Jerry. After they meet Ray, a rogue zombie who introduces them to the joys of consuming human flesh, Andy embarks on a journey of self-discovery that leads to a media-driven, class-action lawsuit on behalf of the rights of zombies everywhere.

Also Fox Searchlight pictures has bought the rights to this and Diablo Cody involved, which could be a good thing and a bad thing, has anybody seen Jennifer's Body??

Pride, Prejudice and Zombies: This is a mash-up of Pride and Prejudice and the trend of zombies. I was iffy at first if I could get through the book but surprisingly it was fantastic. My favourite is still Breathers but this one was good. This book will also be made into a movie but that was planned a couple years ago but still nothing. Natalie Portman was to star but pulled out and now apparently Lily Collins has stepped in, so here's to hoping.

Well that's all I have to say about zombie's for now. I should get back to watching Dawn of the Dead, ciao!!

Week of March 3 to 7th

Okay so the last couple weeks the TV world was on hiatus a little due to the Olympics and now since we're back to normal programming I can tell you what I think.

The Walking Dead:

So everybody is still separated, Beth and Darryl are still together; Rick, Carl and Michonne are still together; Glenn is still with that girl from The Governor's team trying to find Maggie and they also have met up with new people who look like ginger GI Joe, GI Joe Barbie and mister mullet Redneck. I'm not sure about Maggie and her group, or Carol and the girls. But right now I have no idea where the show is head and sometimes that's a good thing and a bad thing, but I will always tune in for it.

Bitten:

With Bitten I'm enjoying it. At first they were kind of staying close to the books but now, they are way off and I think that was their plan. Kelley Armstrong the author, has wrote on her Facebook page that the show is loosely based on books and there have been not so nice comments left on her wall. It's not really fair that people are so upset about it. At the beginning I didn't like some of the actors brought on for the characters and I know that happens when people love the books so much but I'm not freaking out about it. People need to relax and if they are so upset with the choices that the show's creators and producers are making then stop watching it and let people, like myself, who are enjoying it, enjoy it. I guess you can't make everyone happy.

Being Human:

I know with my last post about Being Human I told you that if there are people out there not watching it to watch it, and that is still true but I found out last week that they have cancelled the show and this is the last season ending in April. I was shocked because I thought a lot of people where watching it because it's fantastic but apparently there aren't. I hope that maybe Netflix or one of those online TV channels might buy it up and continue on but I don't think it's going to happen. So I hope that it ends on a high note and believe me how the last couple of weeks have been going it should.

Supernatural:

It just came back from a little hiatus which is great but I was disappointed with the last episode. I thought it was going to be fantastic because GhostFacers were back but it just seemed like a filler episode. I'm also getting so tired of seeing Sam and Dean hate each other so much. It's just sad.

The Following:

If there is anyone out there not watching this show you need to start, immediately. This show is amazing. The cast is perfect, the writing and plot are amazing, so amazing that you truthfully have no idea what is going to happen next, it changes like that and I love it. I would classify this show as a combination of Dexter and Criminal Minds and it works perfectly.

Helix:

I am behind by a couple episodes and I will catch up hopefully this weekend.

Movie Review:

300 - Rise of an Empire

Okay I went last night with a couple of friends and my movie experience started off kind of embarrassing when I dumped half of bag of popcorn on the poor guy in front of me. Sorry :( I felt like a complete ass and couldn't stop apologizing and the funny thing is he ate the popcorn that landed on his lap, lol. 

We ended up watching it in 3D plus the theatre we were at had these seats called D Boxes, and for those who don't know what those are they shake and vibrate along with the movie, and even though we didn't sit in those seats we actually sat across from them we still go to feel it and it was kind of cool. I think I will try the D Boxes, maybe for Captain America.

Okay so for the movie it was good. I watched 300 the night before getting all prepared for it and the second installment was not bad. Very bloody, but with the type of movie it is it should be expected. I liked the aspect that it shows what the rest of Greece is doing while the 300 Spartans march towards their doom. I also like the back story of how the King God became like that and his reasoning of why to attack Greece.

Overall it was a good movie, with a good amount of action. So I give it the 'V' stamp of approval.

To end this entry I have to say RIP Harold Ramis, you will be missed.

Week of Feb 10th to 16th

So overall not a too crazy week in my world. Work, sleep, repeat, boo!! But The Walking Dead is back and that's a plus, a big plus. So here we go!!

1. The Walking Dead
We have two episodes to get through
Episode 9

This was the mid-season premiere of Season 4. I really hated that we had to wait so long but I'm happy it's not as long of a wait as the show Sherlock (2 years between Season 2 and Season 3). This episode focused on the aftermath of the Prison being taken over by walkers. Everybody gets separated and we come across Rick and Carl. Carl is beyond pissed off a Rick, who is beaten and severely injured from his fight with the Governor. They find refuge in a house and surprise Carl doesn't stay where he's supposed to and Rick couldn't do anything due to succumbing to his injuries (well at the time you may think he dies but he's Rick, he's good). Carl like usual does things he's not supposed to which means he gets trapped and almost bitten by Walkers but he manages to escape and it concludes with him almost shooting Rick due to thinking Rick is dead, then there was a knock on the door.

Episode 10

This episode opens with Beth and Darryl. They are just wandering around trying to not get bit without any intended destination. Next you come across the little girls from the jail and the big guy Tyreese and Tyreese turns and you see that he has Judith, thank goodness. Judith keeps crying which brings the Walkers closer and closer and Tyreese runs off to help some other people and that's when Carol finds the girls and Judith. They find out that there is a town up ahead off the tracks offering a safe place. That's the way they headed. Next was Glenn. I though at the mid season finale he was on the bus but apparently he got off the bus going back for Maggie and he wakes up on top of a broken bridge surrounded by Walkers. He makes it back into the jail where he loads up with his SWAT gear and heads out and finds a girl from the Governors group. They both leave searching for others. Maggie, Sasha, and Bob find the bus completely filled with Walkers. Maggie thinks the worst that Glenn is on there so they let the Walkers out and she finds out the good news.

2. So after reading my blog entry last week over I noticed that I forgot Supernatural. I can't believe I would forget my boys.

So like usual Sam and Dean are fighting. In the first episode of the Season Sam was dying due to the trials from last season. Sam was gravely ill and Dean did what he had to to save him. An angel said that he could possess Sam and heal him and once Sam was healed he would leave. The Angel who gave a false name lied, who knew Angels could lie. Sam did get better slowly but the Angel still had some control. While the boys did their normal case work Castiel, who is now human, went out on his own. He started working at a Variety Store and he even ended up getting laid, you go Case, you go. LOL. Well Case ended up stealing another's Angel's grace and became one of the Angels again. Now as Sam and Dean solved cases Crowley who is imprisoned at their lair helped from the side lines. No I know Crowley is a bad guy but I love Crowley, he's hilarious. The Angel that possessed Sam started working with Metatron, who is a bad guy, and poor Kevin got stuck in the crossfire.

3. Bitten
Episode 6

At the end of the last episode Elena went back to Toronto for her boyfriend's sister's wedding. While she was there Clayton and Jeremy had an unwelcome guest who tried to challenge Jeremy for Pack King. Jeremy won and he got Clayton to rip out the mutt's teeth. Clayton, who is trying to become more of a man than werewolf, for Elena to win her back called her upset with what he was doing and that pulled on my heart strings a little. Daniel Santos, one the of rogue mutts, showed up to the wedding. He has some fascination with Elena, and I get it she's the only female werewolf.
Now to go off the show. I've read the books and I have noticed that they have stayed somewhat true until this one. I knew that this would happen, this always happens with books that are made into movies and tv shows, they all go off at some point. Now I'm fine with it, I want to see where it goes but I was on Facebook today and since I follow Kelley Armstrong (the writer of the book series) she mentioned the back lash for Saturday's episode. People you know how this goes, movies and TV shows rarely stay true to the books and if they did they would be incredibly long. It would be nice but it's just not plausible. So watch it and don't judge it until the end. :)

4. Being Human

I totally recommend this show for lovers of the supernatural and paranormal world. You get a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf living together, it's great. Josh and Nora end up throwing a impromptu baby shower for their new werewolf friends but it turns out to be a big raging party for a pack of werewolves. Josh's sister, who is a recovering alcoholic, shows up and starts to have a panic attack since she's trying to stay away from alcohol. With all the werewolf people there it gets a little awkward when Aidan and Kenny show up drunk on blood and that's when the party gets started. Aidan is all depressed because him and Kat broke up but it was funny watching Aidan all care free. Now Sally, who should not be doing any magic at all, decides to try to help Josh's sister she gets sent back to the roaring 20's and see's a side of Aidan that she never wants to see again.

5. Robocop

Okay so on Saturday when we were at the theatre the plan wasn't Robocop but it was on. I was never a huge fan of the first one and I really had no desire to watch this one other than on video later on but I did. I wouldn't consider this as a remake more of a reboot, or re-imagining of Robocop. The story is kind of similar but at the same time not a all. I'm pretty sure in the first Robocop his family dies well this one their still alive. I think the common thing was in both movies Murphy a.k.a Robocop is a good cop and follows the rules and ends up dealing with the wrong people and dirty cops. 
The movie was okay, the parts where they show what is left of him in human ways was completely unbelievable and a little stupid but the action parts of the movie were decent. I've seen better but I have seen worse. So if you end up at the theatre and there is nothing else on in the action movie department, watch it and judge for yourself.

Movie Review - World War Z

Okay so today I headed to a matinee and watched World War Z. None of my friends were interested so the only person that I knew that wanted to watch it was my Mom so off we went. I enjoyed it. It had a 28 days later, 28 weeks later vibe and I enjoyed those movies in the past and I still do. I do enjoy myself a good zombie movie and I will clasiffy this as one. Brad Pitt was fine, not a Oscar worthy performance but who was expecting one with a zombie movie. 

In the past zombie movies have had this just undead being wanted to eat alive humans and that is all. Now with these new zombie movies it's always a virus, rabies something like that, like with these movies Resident Evil, 28 days later, 28 weeks later, Quarantine. And I do love both types of Zombie movies.

The chaotic scenes when the Zombies or Zeke's they call them in the movie start attacking everybody in the open in Philly is crazy to watch because the zombie's in this movies aren't your slow moving zombie's you see on The Walking Dead or anything like that they are like super crazed and move very quickly killing and turning thousands in mere minutes and hours. 

This picture shows you how crazy they were. Just a little bit of sound they start climbing each other trying to get over the wall and in another part they take down a helicopter.

I don't want to give anything away so I won't get into how they learn to deal with them but overall the movie was great. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I went. My mom on the other hand found it to be too long and she said it was okay, which means she really didn't like it.

So the only opinion I am posting on here is my opinion and World War Z gets my 'V' Stamp of approval. Check this one out :)

Walking Dead Season 3 Episodes 7-16

Walking Dead Season 3 Episodes 7-16

I know, I've been slacking but here is a quick run down on the episodes leading up to the the season finale.

Episode 7 - When the Dead Come Knocking

Everybody at the prison is surprised by the arrival of Michone who is carrying baby formula. They take her in and after Rick interrogates her they all find out that The Governor has Maggie and Glenn and Michone offers to take them there. At Woodbury Merle tortures Glenn trying to get him to give up the location of the others and as Merle does that The Governor is having some fun with Maggie, not literally. He humiliates her and threatens to hurt Glenn so she gives up the location of the prison. The Governor makes plans to head to the prison but as he does that Rick and some of their group are just outside Woodbury getting ready to storm the gates.

Episode 8 - Made to Suffer

Rick, Daryl, Oscar and Michone enter Woodbury for Maggie and Glenn. When the shooting starts they find one another but (SPOILER)Oscar does not make it out. Michone with ulterior motives heads off on her own looking to settle her score with The Governor but she finds a whole other mess. He is keeping his daughter who is a walking chained up and he also has aquariams filled with walker heads. Meanwhile back at the prison a new group finds a way into the prison.

Episode 9 - The Suicide King

Daryl and Merle who have been reunited are captured by The Governor who is bearing a eye patch from his fight with Michone, which also ended the undead life of his daughter at the hands of Michone. The Governor decides on pitting Daryl against Merle with Walkers trying to get at them. Rick, who is having a problem with delusions and halucinations, sees Lori and freaks out on the new arrivals kicking them out of the prison.

Episode 10 - Home

Rick who is hallucinating Lori everywhere starts to pull away from the group. Daryl and Merle who are know out on their own because Rick and the rest of the group have decided that Merle, because of what he did to Glenn, is not allowed to stay at the prison so Daryl sticks with his brother. While they are out they come across a group of people in a car that are trapped because of Walkers, Daryl jumps in to protect and save them but Merle, after killing the Walkers begins to steal from the people. Daryl, who is now disgusted in the way his brother is acting decides on cutting ties with him and heads back to the prison. The Governor, being a total dick, brings in a armored vehicle full of Walkers and slams through the gates of the prison releasing these walkers. The group scrambles to stay alive, fighting off gun fire from the Woodbury residents and fighting off the Walkers. At the end of the episode Rick is pinned against the fence with a couple Walkers going in for the bite when suddenly a arrow goes through one of their heads showing that Daryl is back. Woot!!!!

Episode 11- I Ain't a Judas

Andrea sneaks out of Woodbury and heads for the prison. She isn't greeted like she expected and she tries to convince Rick to make an agreement but isn't successful. Carol convinces Andrea to go back to Woodbury and eliminate The Governor.

Episode 12 - Clear

Knowing that The Governor is planning on attacking the prison again Rick decides to head back to their home town to hit up his old police station for guns and ammunition. When they get there they were disappointed. Rick, Carl and Michone come across an alive human, the human is the guy that helped Rick when he escaped from the hospital in the first episode. After they fight Rick collects guns and ammunition and offers a place at the prison for this guy and he declines. As this is happening Carl takes off and Michone follows him. They head into a diner filled with Walkers to get a picture that is hanging on the wall of Carl, Lori and Rick so the baby will know what Lori looks like.

Episode 13 - Arrow on the Doorpost

Rick and the Governor agree to meet. Andrea sets this up telling Rick that the Governor is there to negotiate but Rick quickly finds out that the Governor isn't there to negotiate and that he wants everybody out of the prison. After kicking Andrea out of the meeting the Governor tells Rick that if he gives up Michone then the Governor will leave them alone, which is so not true. After the meeting they go their separate ways and Rick prepares to go to war with the Governor.

Episode 14 - Prey

Andrea finds out from Milton that the Governor is preparing on slaughtering everybody at the prison so Andrea flees from Woodbury to warn Rick and the others. When the Governor finds out that Andrea fled he starts after her. He finds her right at the edge of the prison and tackles her to the ground. Rick almost notices while he's on guard duty but not so.

Episode 15 - This Sorrowful Life

Rick decides the fate of Michone. Merle, who feels like a outcast, takes Michone into his own hands and takes her to the meeting area. He finally lets Michone go before reaching there and I think to protect his brother Merle opens fire on the Woodbury residents and ends up dying in the process. Daryl finds out that Merle is gone and tries to catch up to him but he's too late, when he gets to the meeting area he finds Merle as a Walker eating one of the dead. Daryl puts his brother out of his misery through tears and it brought tears to my own eyes. The Governor brings Andrea back to Woodbury where he chains her up in the room that was meant for Michone.

Episode 16 - Welcome to the Tombs

Rick and the others pack up the prison making it look like they left. At Woodbury Andrea who is chained up in a room has another inmate. The Governor kills Milton and he leaves him there expecting him to turn and then he will take Andrea out. Michone and the others come to Woodbury and when they get to where Andrea is it's too late. She is bitten and at the end of the episode you hear a gun shot, implying that she shot herself. Okay this might sound bad, but thank god, that took long enough. I couldn't stand Andrea.

So this season has been amazing, with one turn after another. I can't wait until the next season.

Review of Warm Bodies

Okay so the first trailer I saw for this movie I thought 'Sweet, it's been awhile since I've seen a good zombie movie'. Well this was a good zombie movie, it was cute. The beginning sequence with 'R' walking around doing his normal everyday zombie things was funny because of the narrating from him. I'm a fan of gory, action packed zombie movies (e.g Dawn of the Dead and the Resident Evil movies) so I was kind of expecting and hoping that this movie was going to be like that but it wasn't. Yeah sure there were a couple action sequences but nothing to get my heart pumping. But it was a cute so called Rom Com/Zombie flick. Another thing was watching 'R' run as a zombie was absolutely hilarious and when he was trying not to stare at Julie but he was looking creepy anyway was kind of funny too.

So the thing I was sort of confused about was 'R' was already kind of talking before he even meets Julie (which is when he starts to change). The grunting was fine because that's what we normally expect from zombie's because of their un-dead status but talking, that's a little far fetched. 

Overall I thought it was a cute movie, maybe a good first date movie for couples who aren't into the mushy romance movies.
