Movie Review - Elysium

Elysium

Elysium takes place sometime in the future. The rich have decided on leaving Earth leaving the sick and poor to live in filth on Earth as they live on Elysium, high above the planet living free of disease, and in privilege. Matt Damon plays Max, who has been in trouble before but he's trying to make a life for himself. He works at a factory and when he becomes trapped and infected with radiation he decides he will do anything to get to Elysium to fix himself.

Along the way he meets up with a childhood friend Frey who has a daughter who is sick too. Max, finds a man named Spider who will help Max's failing body by attaching a metal exoskeleton to his body giving him the strength to get to Elysium. But this comes with a price. Max must extract information from his old boss and during this extraction things go bad. His boss dies and the director of protection on Elysium, Jodi Foster's character, Delacourt know that this information that is now in the hands of Max is vital for her she ends up sending out a assassin of sorts Kruger, played by Sharlto Copley. Kruger is ruthless and as he hunts down Max he finds out about Frey and her daughter and brings them to Elysium along with Max who he captured. Max finds out that the information he holds in his head will allow all residents of Earth to be able to come to Elysium to be healed. But uploading this information to the server comes at a great cost.

I don't want to give away the ending but overall I enjoyed this movie. It had great action sequences, amazing visual effects and great cast. Sharlto Copley is great and scary. I enjoyed him in District 9 and in this movie.

Elysium gets my 'V' Stamp of Approval
